Rumba
Rumba is one of the easiest dances to learn footwork for, though dancers can spend years perfecting technique and learning new steps.
One of the more popular dances for beginner dancers, rumba combines Latin and Caribbean beats with the style and grace of ballroom dancing. This classic dance encourages dancers to take their time drawing out each action, while mixing in bursts of speed and power. All the while, the basics of the dance can be taught in a few minutes, making this the perfect dance to break out at your next party, wedding or other social function with some slow 4/4 time music.
In ballroom dance competition, there are two styles of rumba, International and American (AKA “Latin” and “Rhythm”), but elements from both styles can be found on the social dance floor.
